South Florida foreclosures up slightly, y-o-y

There were 4,499 foreclosures filed in South Florida in November, according to Condo Vultures, a 29.9 percent increase from the same month a year ago. 1,944 the foreclosures came for Miami-Dade County — leading the region for the third consecutive month. Broward County had 1,636 foreclosures, compared to 1,570 in October 2011. Palm Beach County ranked third with 919, slightly less then the 958 filings it saw in the same month the previous year.

Overall, 45,307 foreclosures were filed in South Florida through the end of November, a 48.4 percent increase from the same period a year ago. Broward accounts for 41.4 percent of all those foreclosure year to date, while Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties split the remaining foreclosures at 23.5 and 16.6 percent, respectively. — Christopher Cameron
