One of the largest flower growers in Florida is facing the foreclosure of over nearly 128 acres in Homestead and Apopka, the South Florida Business Journal reported. The lawsuit was filed against Kerry’s Nursery, formerly known as Kerry’s Bromelaid Nursery, by Florida Federal Land Bank Association, an affiliate of West Palm Beach-based Farm Credit of Florida, on December 18. Kerry’s Nursery was founded by Kerry Herndon in 1970 and today has more than 2.8 million square feet of greenhouses for its inventory of 5 million orchids and 2 million bromeliads.

According to the Journal, the lawsuit names two mortgages issued for $7.1 million and $5 million in 2002 by Farm Credit. In Homestead, the lawsuit will affect 37.9 acres at 21820 S.W. 258th Street, including single-family homes of 2,728 square feet and 2,610 square feet.
