One Thousand Ocean has closed the sale of one of its penthouse units for $8.7 million, or $1,540 per square foot — the highest per-square-foot price to date at the building, according to an announcement today from the developers.

The international buyer of the unit, known as “the Beach,” plans to build out the residence with One Thousand Ocean’s development team supervising the process. The units feature a private elevator lobby, floor-to-ceiling windows, a separate glass-enclosed bonus room, a private pool-deck cabana and a private three-car garage.

“The new owner wanted a place for his family to come to that felt safe and was an active playground, even when he may not be here with them,” Maria Scarola of LXR Realty said in the statement. “There’s a lot less traffic in Boca, and his family can cruise across Lake Boca aboard the resort’s Mizner’s Dream shuttle boat to enjoy ice cream at Serendipity or dinner at numerous restaurants on property without getting into their car.”

The sale is the third for the building in March, bringing this month’s sales volume to nearly $20 million and bumping up occupancy to 93 percent. The sales leave only four units available for purchase in the Boca Raton condominium project. —Christopher Cameron
