The 153 acres at 6133 Jupiter Farms Road has been many things — a film studio, a hideout for gangsters. And for the last ten years, Jupiter Farms residents have tried to turn the site into a middle school. But come Wednesday it is likely those hopes will be dashed, the Palm Beach Post reported.
Instead, the Palm Beach County School Board is expected to vote to sell the land to K. Hovnanian Homes, which hopes to build an upscale residential development, the Post said. Residents vow they will fight it, however.
“Good luck getting that approved, and good luck getting the community to accept it,” resident Sandi Johnson told the Post. “The Farms doesn’t want 62 homes.” [Palm Beach Post] –Guelda Voien
