Four construction workers had to be rescued after scaffolding collapsed under an I-95 bridge in Fort Lauderdale.

One worker was temporarily buried under the scaffolding, while the other three dangled in the air under the bridge for about two hours last night, the Sun-Sentinel reported. They were all taken to Broward Health Medical Center as a precaution. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue officials did not immediately have an update on their condition.

The workers were part of a larger crew working under southbound I-95 lanes along the New River between State Road 84 and Davie Boulevard.

“We were able to extricate one from the rubble of the scaffolding,” Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Division Chief Robert Bacic told the Sentinel. “There were three others suspended from safety lines about 60 to 70 feet in the air.” [Sun-Sentinel]Eric Kalis
