A $20 million mixed-use complex a Miami Lakes doctor has planned is getting some pushback from Hialeah neighbors concerned the 10-story development will increase traffic.

The city’s zoning board heard complaints from locals at a neighborhood meeting regarding Dr. Jose Orcasita’s proposal to replace the existing 1-story medical offices at 7000 West 12th Avenue with a $20 million project that includes building 80 apartments for seniors to reside and a slew of medical offices, according to the Miami Herald.

A 220-slot parking lot is also on the table, but the board recently reduced the minimum number of parking spaces required to 200, so Orcasita may make changes to his proposal. Another healthcare provider, Tenet Healthcare, recently acquired a Hialeah medical office building for $48 million. [Miami Herald] — Angela Hunt
