Homebuilder K. Hovnanian got the official go-ahead to build a residential development on the Burt Reynolds Ranch in Jupiter Farms.

The company’s proposal to construct 30 single-family homes on about 40 percent of the 153-acre site was approved by Palm Beach County commissioners last week. Reynolds filmed scenes from his movies and held his wedding to Loni Anderson on the farmland. The ranch is located two miles south of Indiantown Road along the west side of Jupiter Farms Road.

K. Hovnanian is setting aside the rest of the ranch for equestrian-related uses and potential community amenities, according to the Sun-Sentinel. The county’s school district purchased the land from the popular actor for $3.9 million in 1999. It is selling the site to K. Hovnanian for $5 million. [Sun-Sentinel]Eric Kalis
