A Fort Lauderdale hotel that previously catered to gay male travelers is being repositioned as a family-friendly property following a renovation.

The former Retro Schubert Hotel at 855 Northeast 20th Avenue is slated to reopen as the Victoria Park Hotel on Friday, just in time for Memorial Day weekend. Ownership spent $300,000 to upgrade the 31-room hotel. It expects occupancy to triple after the rebranding.

Victoria Park was originally built in 1953. Eight of the suites were revamped with the 1950s in mind, according to the Sun-Sentinel.
