Former professional basketball player Vitaly Potapenko plunked down about $1.7 million for a home in Hollywood’s Harbor Islands neighborhood, The Real Deal has learned.

Potapenko, who played for four National Basketball Association teams during an 11-year span, and his wife, Madina Adilova, acquired the 1441 Commodore Way estate in a transaction recorded on Thursday, according to Broward County records. The couple obtained a $1 million mortgage from BNY Mellon for the purchase.

Jay and Lisa Kopf sold the five-bedroom, 4,591-square-foot home to Potapenko and Adilova. They paid about $1.2 million for the property in December 2011.

The Ukrainian-born Potapenko has worked as an assistant coach since retiring from professional basketball in 2008. In July 2013, Potapenko was hired as an assistant by the Cleveland Cavaliers, which drafted the former center in 1996.
