Less than a year after the Casino at Hialeah Park’s poker room opened, an additional 12 tables are set to be added to account for the expected bump in traffic created by the closing of competitor Calder’s poker room. The project, scheduled to be finished by the end of 2015, will also include renovations to the Fountain Terrace outdoor entertainment venue and an additional 235 slot and gaming machines.

“We believe this is the perfect time to increase the size and amenities of the Hialeah Park Casino Poker Room,” Hialeah President John J. Brunetti Jr. said, as cited by the South Florida Business Journal. “In addition to more poker tables, we will also expand the dining facilities and sports bar in the poker room area.”

Beyond the improvements to the poker room and Fountain Terrace, a simulcasting theater offering pari-mutuel wagering on horse racing from major tracks in the U.S. and around the globe will be constructed. [South Florida Business Journal]Andy Kent
