An activist’s attempt to stop a voter referendum on a 1,000-foot tower on Biscayne Bay has been quashed by a Miami-Dade Judge.

Judge Jorge Cueto ruled against Coconut Grove architect Charles Corda, who had aimed to strike a ballot question that sought voters’ approval on a lease extension, the expansion of Bayside Marketplace and the construction of SkyRise Miami, according to the Miami Herald.

Corda had argued that the Bayside lease and SkyRise project were unrelated, and therefore legally should have been placed before voters as separate ballot questions.

However, Cueto disagreed, arguing that SkyRise, as a sublease of Bayside, is indeed connected to the marketplace. [Miami Herald] Christopher Cameron
