Developers expect to build more well over a million square feet of warehouse space along Florida’s Turnpike in unincorporated areas west of West Palm Beach.

Indianapolis-based Duke Realty is planning 822,850 square feet of warehouse space along the Turnpike at Jog and Belvedere Roads.

McCraney Property Company, a developer based in Palm Beach County, is preparing to build a warehouse project called Turnpike Business Park with 388,000 square feet. A tenant called Adrenalin Rush has made a preconstruction commitment to take about 70,000 square feet for an indoor go-kart track.

Next year, express delivery company FedEx expects to occupy a new 225,000-square-foot distribution center on Pike Road. FedEx plans to hire 190 people to work at the new distribution center.

“It feels like 2004 all over again,” CBRE broker Robert Smith told the Palm Beach Post.

He said only 4 percent of industrial space in Palm Beach County is vacant: “I literally have lists of tenants who are looking for space and can’t find it.” [Palm Beach Post]  Mike Seemuth
