On the scene at The Real Deal’s Miami event: PHOTOS

More than 4,500 people gathered on Thursday at Wynwood’s Soho Studios to hear top industry experts speak on the state of South Florida’s real estate markets.

Developers, brokers and real estate insiders attended The Real Deal South Florida’s Third Annual Showcase & Forum, which featured 50 exhibitors and five expert panels ranging from new development to a Q&A with tennis star and interior designer Venus Williams.

During our first panel, developers Shahab Karmely, Edgardo Defortuna, Gil Dezer, Jon Paul Perez and Inigo Ardid spoke frankly about the slowdown in preconstruction condo sales, and cautioned real estate agents of projects that launched too late in the game.

Later on, commercial brokers zeroed in on millennials on the Commercial Outlook panel: “Examining the flurry of activity across South Florida’s retail, hospitality and office markets.”

And on the third panel, which focused on the future of South Florida’s residential market, top brokers discussed new strategies to counter the decline of international buyers and the residential slowdown. In the fourth panel, financial pros shed light on lending in South Florida.

Finally, TRD capped the day with a design-focused conversation with architect Kobi Karp and Williams.
