Law firms continued to lead New York City’s biggest office leases last month, securing three of the top 10 spots on this roster. One was the very top spot, so large that it comes in at more than triple the size of the next largest lease. But which law firms are leasing so much of the city? Read on to find out.
1) Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton | 1 Liberty Plaza | Financial District | 475K sf
The law firm inked a massive 10-year lease for more space in the Financial District building where it has been a tenant for over thirty years. Mikael Nahmias, Daniel Roberts and David Caperna of Brookfield Properties represented the landlord in-house.
2) Tennr | 345 Hudson Street | Soho | 125K sf
The health care tech firm signed a new lease in the Soho building, relocating from its current office at 275 Seventh Avenue. A four-member CBRE team including Benjamin Joseph and Zachary Price represented the landlord, Hudson Square Properties.
3) Baker McKenzie | 10 Bryant Park | Grand Central | 122K sf
The law firm inked a lease renewal and expansion in the Grand Central building. David Goldstein and John Mambrino of Savills represented the tenant, while a four-member JLL team including Paul Glickman and Ben Bass represented the landlord, the Property & Building Corporation.
4) Jump Trading | 50 Hudson Yards | Hudson Yards | 99K sf
The trading firm inked a new lease in the Hudson Yards building, owned by Related Companies. The lease represents the firm’s second office in New York City and 13th overall.
5) Sierra | 11 East 26th Street | Flatiron | 94K sf
The AI firm inked a new lease in the Flatiron building, marking a second location in the city. The building’s landlord is Rockrose Development.
6) Versant | 229 West 43rd Street | Times Square | 85K sf
The media company expanded its space in the Times Square building. A four-member CBRE team including Timothy Dempsey and J. Paul Stimpfle represented the tenant. The building’s landlord is Forum at Times Square.
7) HDR | 7 Penn Plaza | Penn Plaza | 75K sf
The engineering firm inked a new lease in the Penn Plaza building. A team from JLL represented the tenant, while Andrew Wiener and Kyle Young of the Feil Organization represented the landlord in-house.
8) Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research | 530 Fifth Avenue | Grand Central | 69K sf
The foundation signed a new lease in the Grand Central building. Kirill Azovtsev, Shay Bolton and Meghan Marchini of Savills represented the tenant, while a four-member CBRE team including Paul Amrich and Neil King represented the landlords, RXR and Sagehall.
9) Norm Ai | 1 World Trade Center | Financial District | 64K sf
The AI firm inked a new lease in the Financial District building. Jim Wenk, Kirill Azovtsev and Scott Bogetti of Savills represented the tenant, while Eric Engelhardt, Karen Rose and Sayo Kamara of the Durst Organization represented the landlord in-house alongside a five-member Newmark team including David Falk and Peter Shimkin.
10) Willkie Farr & Gallagher | 787 Seventh Avenue | Midtown West | 53K sf
The law firm signed a new lease in the Midtown West building. Neil Goldmacher and Brian Goldman of Newmark represented the tenant. Goldmacher also represented the landlord, CommonWealth Partners.
