Deerfield Beach water park stalled, city considers buying land

After a group of 30 investors postponed plans to develop a 97-acre parcel in Deerfield Beach into a water park, the city is considering purchasing the land and turning it into green space. The city is seeking funds from county and state governments to help make the $10 million purchase, although Mayor Al Capellini announced that if these plans fall through, they could proceed by issuing bonds or accessing the city’s reserve funds.
