Attorney hopes to make troubled commercial real estate more ‘readable’

From the New York October issue: Joshua Stein, a real estate attorney in New York City, said that the collapsing market in 2008 motivated him to write a practical guide to distressed loan buying. And after a couple drinks with his editors at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel bar, Stein’s new book, “A Guide to Troubled Commercial Real Estate Loans for Lenders and Borrowers,” was born (LexisNexis Matthew Bender; $75).

The book, due out this fall, is the fifth for Stein. His other titles also guide readers through the commercial real estate world, touching on topics such as mortgage transactions and leasing. But with this book, Stein said he put particular emphasis on toning down legal jargon. [more]
