Strong month for SF hotels

Hotel occupancy and room rates improved in May compared to the same
period in 2010, according to new data from Smith Travel Research. Hotel occupancy in
Miami-Dade County was 73 percent last month, up from 67 percent in May
2010. The county’s average room rates increased to $144 per night, with
per-room revenue jumping to $106 per night. In Broward County, occupancy
rose to 68 percent from 64 percent last year, with an average room rate
of $105 per night — a 4 percent improvement from last year. [Miami
