While it still requires legislative approval, a one-time $4 million stipend would fund new judges and case managers to address Florida’s foreclosure problem, the Palm Beach Post reported. “It will give us an opportunity to bring down some of the backlog,” said Palm Beach County Chief Judge Peter Blanc. “A lot of the debate these days is why are the cases still there and we do have some difficulty getting timely hearings sometimes.” Two years ago, the state granted $6 million to hire more judges with a similar plan. From July 2010 to March 2011, state courts processed 129,615 foreclosure cases. [Palm Beach Post]
