Florida mortgage broker count plummets

There were 39,956 mortgage brokers in Florida in 2010, a 51 percent drop from 2007, with the drastic reduction leading to downsizing at Florida’s Office of Financial Regulation. “The number of licensees has drastically decreased over the past few years while OFR staffing levels have remained relatively the same,” said Brittany Perez, a spokesperson for the Office of Financial Regulation. The agency will cut ties with 81 employees and shutter four offices, including one in Fort Lauderdale. [Palm Beach Post]
