Port Everglades will be spending $54 million on the renovation of four existing terminals, according to the Sun Sentinel. The terminals, which are largely used by cruise liners, will be upgraded and expanded. “Cruise ships are getting larger, so homeports such as Port Everglades must reconfigure and modernize its cruise terminals to accommodate arriving and debarking passengers simultaneously to keep ships on schedule,” said Steven Cernak, port director, in a statement. The renovation will also include the placement of Florida-styled artwork. The plan is a private-public partnership between Carnival and the Broward Board of County Commissioners, which operates the port. [Sun Sentinel]
