West Palm Beach commissioners unanimously approved developer Al Adelson’s unveiled revised plans for a condo project at waterfront Chapel-by-the-Lake site last night.

The 5-0 decision arrived after five hours of discussion at the meeting. Adelson originally wanted to build 29-story, 384-foot-tall condominium tower with 96 units. The approved design is of a 295,000-square-foot tower with 70 to 75 units. Plans also call for a public walkway along the Intracoastal Waterway.

“I don’t think the developer could make the project any smaller,” commissioner Shanon Materio said at the meeting, as the Palm Beach Post reported.

First Baptist Church has a pending deal to sell the 3.2-acre property to Adelson’s group for $23 million. [Palm Beach Post]Mark Maurer
