Soffer wants wrongful death lawsuit tossed

Attorneys for billionaire developer Jeffrey Soffer have asked a Miami-Dade Circuit Court judge to dismiss a $100 million wrongful death lawsuit filed by a former friend.

Soffer’s attorneys said he “categorically denies” the allegations made by the widow of attorney Lance Valdez, a friend of the developer who was killed in a 2012 helicopter crash, the Miami Herald reported. The lawsuit accuses Soffer of piloting the helicopter during the accident in the Bahamas. Soffer’s legal team noted the widow, Daria Gogoleva, had already agreed to a $2 million insurance settlement before filing the suit.
