Miami-Dade commissioners are set to vote today on two proposals for the Airport City mixed-use development at Miami International Airport’s entrance.

Commissioner Dennis Moss has introduced a resolution asking the county to honor an existing agreement with Coral Gables-based contractor Odebrecht USA for the 33-acre project, the Miami Herald reported. Some politicians have soured on Odebrecht after learning that an affiliate of its Brazilian parent company is doing work in Cuba.

That includes Commissioner Esteban Bovo, who wants Odebrecht out of the development. Bovo would like the county to consider potential alternatives to the original project plan, which includes a hotel and shopping center.

Airport officials have asked the county to downsize the development to about nine acres. [Miami Herald]Eric Kalis
