Broward County residents can get a first look at prospective master plans for their convention center during a public meeting scheduled for Tuesday.

Four different concepts are slated to be presented for the waterfront 40-acre site of the Broward County Convention Center, the Daily Business Review reported. After the public weighs in, county commissioners are expected to review the master plan and choose a team to oversee the redevelopment project.

The county hopes the 1.7 million-square-foot project with hotel, retail and meeting space creates new revenue streams. It plans to build a 750-room hotel totaling 750,000 square feet.

“We need to give it a sense of place beyond the typical hotel-slash-convention center and make it active on a year-round basis,” Carlos Puentes, deputy director of the Broward County Convention Center, told the Review.
