Professional baseball player Yunel Escobar now has a penthouse on the Miami River to go along with his two single-family homes in Miami, The Real Deal has learned.

The Tampa Bay Rays shortstop paid $1 million for Unit PH-1 at the Ivy condo tower, which is part of the Riverfront complex, according to Miami-Dade County records. The sale of the three-bedroom, 2,250-square-foot condo closed on April 18 and was recorded on May 1. Escobar received a $750,000 mortgage from City National Bank of Florida for the purchase of the 90 Southwest Third Street unit.

Miami-based CAK SRK sold the penthouse to Escobar. The company is managed by Robert Korn. It paid about $1.2 million for the unit in July 2008, shortly after the Ivy was completed.

Escobar also owns a pair of single-family residences in southern Miami-Dade, according to county records.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Escobar played for the Atlanta Braves and Toronto Blue Jays before joining the Rays before the 2013 season. He was on the Marlins roster for less than a month in 2012. The team acquired Escobar in a large trade and immediately sent the shortstop to Tampa.

Escobar was suspended for three games in September 2012 for writing a derogatory Spanish phrase in his eye black.
