Worker killed by beam collapse in Fort Lauderdale

A construction worker was killed by a beam collapse at a Fort Lauderdale construction site on Monday morning.

Two others were injured from the incident, which occurred at 2601 South Andrews Avenue. A car dealership is being constructed on the property. All three individuals were taken to the Broward Health Medical Center.

Officials have not identified the victims. Two of the three are still at the hospital, where one is considered to be in critical condition, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

The federal government’s Occupational Health and Safety Administration was called to the scene to investigate the incident. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is also looking into the cause of the beam collapse. [Sun-Sentinel]Eric Kalis
