The National Association of Realtors is engaging in talks with the Federal Aviation Administration on the use of drones – currently prohibited for commercial use.

The lobby was invited to sit in on a newlyformed group focused on regulating drones and how to integrate them into the “national airspace system,” according to the Palm Beach Post.

Currently, drones require special approval when used to photograph properties or make marketing materials for brokerages.

Nevertheless, the practice is widespread in the South Florida real estate industry and shows no signs of stopping.

“Aerial real estate photography and videography is nothing new,” Brian Saver, a principal with McWilliams Ballard in West Palm Beach who uses drones to market his listings, told the Palm Beach Post. “It’s just been done from real helicopters for ages.
