The Palm Beach County Courthouse is introducing a new electronic filing system that will speed closings and save taxpayers money.

On Thursday, the county is implementing eRecording, a system that allows real estate professionals to send documents electronically, instead of by mail or in person, according to the Sun-Sentinel. In addition to ending courier fees, the new system will lower closing costs – and speed closings up.

The County Clerk’s office typically records about 2,000 documents a day, the report said.

Broward County implemented a similar system and an attorney there said closings are now taking place within days, as opposed to weeks. With home sales moving faster, real estate agents get paid quicker as well, he said. [Sun-Sentinel] – Jennifer White Karp
