Movie studio gets $10M county grant for Miami Gardens facility

A startup movie studio won initial approval for a $10 million county grant from property taxes on Thursday to build a film and TV production facility.

The deal requires that Miami-Dade negotiate a lease for county land at 20000 Northwest 47th Avenue in Miami Gardens, the Miami Herald reported.

The 900,000-square-foot production facility in Northwest Miami-Dade would include 10 sound stages, four water-tank stages, production offices, post-production resources and a hotel. County commissioners approved the grant from property taxes on Miami Ocean Studios complex, according to published reports.

Ocean Studios would have to provide suitable space for the three non-profits the land currently houses as part of the deal. [Miami Herald] – Katherine Kallergis
