A gym founded by a prominent Miami attorney was purchased for $3.9 million by Greenstreet Management of Miami, a Coconut Grove-based company that has been snatching up commercial properties in Miami’s MiMo neighborhood in the Biscayne Boulevard Historic District.

Greenstreet bought the Biscayne Boxing & Fitness Club at 7200 Biscayne Boulevard on Thursday.

The 6,701-square-foot building sits on a 14,250-square-foot plot of land. Lyle Chariff and Mauricio Zapata of Chariff Realty Group were the exclusive brokers of the deal, which amounted to $273.68 per square foot for the land and $582 per square foot for the building.

Thomas Tew, co-founder of the influential Brickell law firm Tew Cardenas, opened Biscayne Boxing in 2009. He later bought the property for $1.55 million in December 2012. His daughter closed the gym soon after Tew died of pancreatic cancer in January of this year. “We are going to divide the spaces and start leasing immediately,” said Chariff, whose company will head up leasing efforts for the property.  “The use will be retail or service related.”

In September, Greenstreet bought a 50-year-old, 21,454-square-foot building at 7300 Biscayne Boulevard and a 14,800-square-foot parking lot across the street from it from Debra Ohanian’s Hye Realty for $5.03 million. The building includes the iconic circa-1958 Coppertone billboard.

Two months later, Greenstreet purchased the 12,000-square-foot Mirabella retail building at 6101 Biscayne Boulevard for $5.8 million from attorney Jay Solowsky and restaurateur Steven Perricone.
