Metropica announced its first retailer on Thursday: iPic Theaters will join the 65-acre development in Sunrise.

The luxury movie theater will anchor the retail and dining component, and will span 45,000 square feet and eight auditoriums. The theaters will include premium seating with push-button service and personal butlers, and in-theater dining designed by a James Beard award winning chef and Food Network personality, Sherry Yard.

An adjacent restaurant and bar concept has yet to be announced. Boca-Raton based iPic Entertainment has 11 locations in California, Florida, Illinois, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin.

Metropica, a mixed-use community, will include commercial, office and retail space; hotels; and eight residential condominium towers totaling 1,800 units, the first of which will be YOO at Metropica, developed by the Trillist Companies.

The development will also include a gym and spa, beach club, public spaces, a tennis club and mini-soccer fields. Metropica Holdings, led by Joseph Kavana, is the developer. — Katherine Kallergis
