Douglas Elliman made two big hires: Paula Silberberg was tapped as managing broker for the firm’s Fort Lauderdale region and Tara West was hired as director of luxury sales in Miami Beach.

Silberberg was most recently market president and managing broker for Berkshire Hathaway in St. Petersburg and has served on the board of directors of the Realtor Association of South Broward for three years. She is also chairman of the Master Brokers Forum in Palm Beach County, according to Douglas Elliman.

Elliman tapped Tara West as a director of luxury sales at the company’s Miami Beach office. West was previously with Sieber International Realty, where she oversaw luxury sales in Miami, and with Engel & Völkers before that, where she was director of development. At Elliman, West will focus on high end commercial and residential projects, including OceanFront Townhomes 9501, a boutique townhome development in Surfside.

The brokerage opened three new offices this year in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood and Wellington and Fort Lauderdale. In 2015, Elliman brought on Eloy Carmenate and Mick Duchon, and Han Cheng Jeng Fu. And in June, top broker Horacio LeDon resigned from his role as president of Douglas Elliman Development Marketing for Florida and California while remaining a licensed broker with the firm.

CBRE promoted José Lobón to first vice president. Lobón was hired at CBRE in 2011 and is part of the firm’s Miami-based Capital Markets, Institutional Properties team. Before CBRE, Lobón was a senior analyst at the Situs Companies.

He has experience with luxury single-family homes and condominiums. Over the past year, Avatar has made a number of hires, including Sarah Sanchez Castillo, Michael Romero and Nalisa Saati.

Robbie Thapa joined the Altman Companies as director of marketing. Thapa will lead all marketing and corporate branding for the Boca Raton-based luxury multifamily developer. Thapa was previously with Trade Street Residential, a publicly traded real estate investment trust. There, he led marketing for the REIT’s 19 properties in the Southeastern United States. – Katherine Kallergis
