    SAB Miller has reportedly taken a full-floor lease at 1450 Brickell for its Latin American headquarters, according to the Miami Herald. The deal relocates its headquarters from Bogota to Miami. “It’s a stamp of approval for Miami,” said William Holly, executive director of Cushman and Wakefield. According to an aid application believed to involve Miller, the firm will add 70 jobs and spend $1.5 million to renovate its offices. [more]

    Brickell office towers are attracting many first-time users of Miami space, according to Miami Today.

    “We are continuing to see interest from multinational and domestic companies that want to concentrate offices in Miami to access the whole region,” said Tere Blanca, principal of Blanca Commercial Real Estate, which has recently signed five new leases — with companies like H.J. Heinz Co, Longchamp USA, and private equity firm MDR American — totaling 19,500 square feet at 1450 Brickell. [more]

  • PM Fish & Steak House

    Miami’s 1450 Brickell/One Broadway complex has added two restaurant tenants to its roster: PM Fish & Steak House and Sacha’s Cafe. The two adjacent properties, which were built by developer Rilea Group, are located at the intersection of SE 15th Street. The two eateries join Brickell Irish Pub and Pieduck’s Pizza at the complex, and will soon be joined by Brickell Deli, Dominique’s Bistro and Ticki. “Miami’s urban core is earning international acclaim as an up-and-coming dining district,” said Rilea executive Diego Ojeda. — Alexander Britell

    Downtown Miami’s office market was healthy in the fourth quarter, according to a report released by Transwestern cited by GlobeSt.com.

    About 40,000 square feet of space was absorbed in the Central Business District, yielding a vacancy rate of 22 percent. Rents were about $41.24 per square-foot for Class A space and $26.10 for Class B buildings. [more]

    Miami’s 1450 Brickell office tower has signed 23,300 square feet in finalized leases, bringing occupancy at the project to 73 percent. The firm signed leases with Gentrust Wealth Management, Forrestal Capital and Spanish bank BBVA Compass. The latter is a 6,652-square-foot expansion of the bank’s original 8,450-square-foot lease signed earlier this year. Current tenants at the 35-story, 582,817-square-foot tower, which is represented by Blanca Commercial Real Estate, include American Express, law firms Bilzin Sumberg and Berger Singerman and JP Morgan Chase. — Alexander Britell [more]

  • Law firm McDonald Hopkins has signed a 3,900-square-foot lease at the Southeast Financial Center in downtown Miami, the 12th national law firm at the office tower. The firms now occupy over 300,000 square feet at the building, which is Florida’s tallest and largest office tower at 1.225 million square feet. The move is one of a series of transactions involving law firms in downtown Miami, including Bilzin Sumberg, which made a high-profile signing at 1450 Brickell last year. — Alexander Britell

  • A subsidiary of London-based insurance broker Willis Group Holdings is relocating its Latin American headquarters to 1450 Brickell office tower in Miami, the South Florida Business Journal reported.

    Willis of Florida will occupy 18,875 square feet of office space in the 582,817-square-foot building.

    Tere Blanca and Danet Linares of Blanca Commercial Real Estate represented the landlord in the transaction. Josh Kuriloff and William Holly of Cushman & Wakefield represented Willis of Florida. Terms of the lease were not immediately available. [SFBJ]

    Alexander Cahlin and Andres del Corral

    Miami-based Blanca Commercial Real Estate has added two members to its team, hiring Andres del Corral as an associate and Alexander Cahlin as a junior associate. Del Corral was previously a development associate at the Rilea Group, where he worked with CEO Alan Ojeda, and will work in leasing and disposition. Cahlin will work in the firm’s tenant representation practice performing market research and financial analysis. Blanca Commercial Real Estate was founded by Tere Blanca three years ago, and its leasing portfolio is headlined by Ojeda’s 1450 Brickell office tower in downtown Miami. — Alexander Britell [more]

  • The Real Deal  checked out new office tower 1450 Brickell, the site of the Commercial Industrial Association of South Florida’s Office Market Report presentation last Friday (see photos by Amy Ramirez above). Guests included Richard Schuchts of Jones Lang LaSalle and Tom Dixon of Dixon Commercial Real Estate.   • South Florida has a number of high-profile architects who have been active in the design of commercial real estate towers in the area. Bruce Brosch, for example, leads Nicholas Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates, which is responsible for the design of both 1450 Brickell and the Wells Fargo Center, the two newest and largest office towers to hit the Miami market. Adolfo Cotilla, principal at ACAI Associates, is leading the firm’s design of Nova Southeastern Univeristy’s oceanographic research center in Hollywood. [SFBJ]
