  • American Marketing Group, a Palm Beach Gardens-based reseller of timeshares, allegedly engaged in deceptive trade practices, according to a lawsuit brought by the Florida Attorney General’s Office in Palm Beach County Circuit Court. The office began investigating the company in November after receiving about 80 complaints from customers who said they had been unable to sell their timeshares and were not receiving promised refunds on service fees within the 120-day deadline the company guaranteed. American Marketing Group also has 107 complaints and an “F” rating with the Better Business Bureau of Southeast Florida. The state suit against the company and owner William Biossat seeks a permanent injunction that will keep it out of the timeshare resale business and get refunds for customers. [Palm Beach Post]

  • Truman Foreclosure Assistance, a South Florida mortgage rescue company that claimed it would help keep clients in their homes even if they were having trouble making mortgage payments, has been accused of simply taking their cash. Several customers said Truman took their money but did no work, and it looks like there may be little recourse for them. The company has apparently vanished from their North Miami Beach office building, the sign on their door is gone and workers at the building and customers claim they can’t find anyone from Truman or reach them by phone. The company has been downgraded to an “F” rating by the Better Business Bureau, with numerous complaints filed against them via the Florida Attorney General. [NBC Miami]
