From the New York website: The latest math on Donald Trump’s finances pegs the Republican presidential hopeful’s worth at $2.9 billion, a far cry from the $10 billion figure he’s very humbly claimed.

That’s according to analysis by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index based partly on Trump’s 92-page personal financial disclosure form, which was made public last week. [more]

From the New York site: To prove that his net worth is more than double the $4 billion figure touted by Forbes, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump recently submitted a 92-page personal-financial-disclosure report to the Federal Election Commission.

The report — alleging that his net worth is in excess of $10 billion — was made public after a June document released by the real estate magnate’s campaign described his net worth as being approximately $8.7 billion. One thing is for certain, though: regardless of how many billions Trump has, he knows how to spread his fortune around. From the New York website: Donald Trump has dominated headlines as the Republican party’s most reckless and entertaining 2016 presidential candidate. But even in 1979, the public was sufficiently interested in his persona to justify a three part series in the Village Voice, which the newspaper is republishing now.

The series documents Trump’s apparent leveraging of powerful family connections to the mayor and the governor to secure development rights to build the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. [more]

  • New Yorker Trump

The cover of this week’s New Yorker hits on exactly what Donald Trump is doing in the Republican presidential primary: making waves.

The New Yorker explains that the Barry Blitt-drawn cover — titled “Belly Flop” — is a reference to Trump’s brazen style and impact on the 2016 presidential field. “Donald Trump has entered the fray of Republican Presidential candidates with all the grace of a bully doing cannonballs and belly flops at the local swimming pool,” Blitt said, according to the New Yorker.

“Trump never fails to provide hours of slack-jawed amazement,” Blitt said.

Though few analysts believe that he actually has a shot at clinching the nomination, Trump’s entry into the field has shaken up the race over the past month. [more]

From the New York website: Donald Trump declared a net worth exceeding $10 billion on government financial disclosure forms needed for his presidential campaign, as well as an income of $362 million in 2014.

“This report was not designed for a man of Mr. Trump’s massive wealth,” his campaign said in a release, according to Bloomberg News. “For instance, they have boxes once a certain number is reached that simply state $50 million or more. Many of these boxes have been checked.” [more]

From the New York website: When Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán dropped into a tunnel under his cell to begin his sensational escape from Mexico’s most secure prison Saturday, the drug kingpin would’ve surely known this: his disappearance would trigger a massive manhunt, lead to a state of emergency in the region, and be a political slap in the face for President Enrique Peña Nieto.

What he could not have foreseen was that the news would be greeted with glee by one Donald Trump. [more]

From the New York websiteLindsey Graham announced his presidential run in his tiny South Carolina hometown. Ted Cruz declared his candidacy at a religious college in Virginia. Just yesterday, Jeb Bush formally launched his campaign at a packed Miami auditorium with a carefully chosen, racially diverse cast of listeners behind him. These Republican candidates tried their best to come across as ordinary folks: approachable, down-to-earth and sympathetic to the everyday American’s plight.
