
Donald Trump Following the purchase of the Doral Golf Resort in Miami late last month, developer Donald Trump said today that he’s now looking all over the country for new real estate. He called into CNBC this morning and mentioned that Palm Beach, Fla., where he owns the Mar-a-Lago Club, is a good place to invest. “Palm Beach is a unique place,” Trump said. “It’s just rich and good,” mainly because he said that Palm Beach “is never affected by the economy,” though he did not specify exactly why. Investors are betting on golf courses as they predict a significant decline in the number of golf courses nationwide, due to a number of factors, Bloomberg News reported.
The median price for a golf course was down to $3 million in the third quarter of 2011, from $4.6 million in 2006, according to numbers from national commercial brokerage Marcus & Millichap. The result is that investors, including Donald Trump himself, whose Trump Golf company has plans for courses from Scotland to Doral, are snapping up the properties, Bloomberg said. [more]

Donald Trump has already been quizzing staffers at the Doral Golf Resort, after a ruling allowed the property’s owner to proceed with the sale, the Miami Herald reported. Trump, who envisions a large-scale renovation of the resort, is now closer to taking over the property. He made the high $150 million bid in October, although other suitors can still choose to outbid him by Friday. [Miami Herald]

Despite claiming earlier this week that he may still run for the position himself, developer Donald Trump may be planning to endorse former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney for president in Las Vegas today, sources told the Washington Post.
He is planning to make the announcement at 3.30 p.m., a senior Romney campaign office said. [more]

Real estate mogul Donald Trump has left the Republican party, switching his registration to “unaffiliated,” according to ABC News. Trump, who said he was “disgusted” with the Republicans’ work in Washington, according to a source, could be contemplating a third-party run. The real estate mogul has reportedly considered online presidential site Americans Elect, which has worked to get on the ballot in all 50 states, and would give Americans the ability to nominate a candidate through the Internet. Donald Trump ultimately paid $150 million for the Doral Golf Resort in Spa, a $20 million discount from the announced price in October. Trump’s initial offer was $170 million, but five resorts foreclosed upon by Paulson & Winthrop Realty Trust (of which Doral was one) agreed not to seek court approval of their sales until Trump’s due diligence period lapsed, which occurred at the end of last month. Developer Donald Trump has posted a video on his You Tube channel (see video above) complaining about Jon Stewart’s apparently “racist” rant on “The Daily Show” in which Stewart mocked presidential hopeful Herman Cain’s response to recent sexual harassment allegations. Cain has faced a slew of accusations, including from another alleged victim who came forward today.“It’s not what he said, but the way he said it,” Trump said. “The tone of his voice, the inflection.
