  • There were 5,019 foreclosures filed in South Florida in December, up from from 4,499 foreclosures last month and up 40.7 percent from the same month a year ago, according to Condo Vultures. Miami-Dade County lead the region for the fourth consecutive month with 2,271 foreclosures. Broward County and Palm Beach County posted 1,541 and 1,207 foreclosures in December respectively, representing a 14.7 percent and 29 percent increase year-over-year. [more]

  • There were 4,499 foreclosures filed in South Florida in November, according to Condo Vultures, a 29.9 percent increase from the same month a year ago. 1,944 the foreclosures came for Miami-Dade County — leading the region for the third consecutive month. Broward County had 1,636 foreclosures, compared to 1,570 in October 2011. Palm Beach County ranked third with 919, slightly less then the 958 filings it saw in the same month the previous year.     There were 5,162 foreclosures filed in South Florida in October, according to Condo Vultures, a 51.5 percent increase from the same month a year ago. More than one third of the foreclosures, or 2,304 of them, came in Miami-Dade County — leading the region for the second consecutive month. Broward County had 1,759 foreclosures, compared to 1,271 in October 2011. Palm Beach County ranked third with 1,099, an increase in contrast to the 757 filings it saw in the same month the previous year.   • There were 4,268 foreclosures filed in South Florida in September this year, according to Condo Vultures, a 34.2 percent increase from the same month a year ago. Slightly more than one third of the foreclosures, or 1,681 of them, came in Miami-Dade County — Broward County has traditionally lead South Florida in foreclosure filings. Broward County came in second with 1,641 foreclosures, compared to 1,100 in September 2011. Palm Beach County ranked third with 946, an increase in contrast to  the 886 filings it saw in the same month the previous year. A majority of the foreclosures, or 2,048 of them, came in Miami-Dade, which has recently overtaken Broward County to lead South Florida in foreclosure filings. Broward County came in second with 1,511 foreclosures, compared to 1,043 in August of 2011. Palm Beach County ranked third with 1,264, about 60 percent more than the 797 foreclosures it saw in the same month the previous year. Slightly more than one third of the foreclosures, or 1,696 of them, came in Broward County, which continued to lead South Florida counties in foreclosure filings last month. Miami-Dade County came in second with 1,472 foreclosures, compared to 1,118 in June of 2011. Palm Beach County ranked third with 1,015, nearly twice as many as the 655 foreclosures it saw in the same month the previous year.  [more]

Nearly half of the foreclosures, or 1,926 of them, came in Broward County, which continues to lead the three counties in foreclosure filings this year. Overall, 18,256 foreclosures were filed in South Florida through the end of May, a 38.5 percent increase from the same period a year ago. Broward accounts for 48 percent of all those foreclosure, while Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties split the remaining foreclosures nearly equally. — Christopher Cameron

    There were 4,122 foreclosures filed in South Florida in April this year, according to Condo Vultures, an 89 percent increase from the same month a year ago. Nearly half of the foreclosures, or 2,025 of them, came in Broward County, which has led the three counties in foreclosure filings all year. [more]

    The pace of South Florida foreclosures is picking up in 2012, as 1,316 foreclosures have been filed year-to-date, compared to 1,013 during the same period last year. For the week ending Jan. 13, 855 foreclosures were filed in South Florida compared to 503 during the corresponding week of 2011. Each of South Florida’s three counties have incurred more foreclosures in 2012 than they did through the same period in 2011. — Adam Fusfeld

    As of today, the number of foreclosures in South Florida year-to-date is 32,291, down from 56,649 at the same time last year, based on the most
    recent data available from Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties.
    In the week ending today there were 803 foreclosures in South Florida,
    which was a huge increase compared to 479 in the same week last
    year. The graph above shows foreclosure activity in South Florida’s
