Next week, Fort Lauderdale-based MMD Realty will head to Toronto to push South Florida real estate. According to the Sun Sentinel, MMD principal Michelle Farber Ross will hold seminars addressing prices, second homes and the lack of inventory. MMD held a similar workshop last year and told the Sun Sentinel that it later closed several deals as a result.

Canadians are the largest foreign buyers percentage-wise in Florida as a whole. And in the past Ross has said that 90 percent of her current clientele is Canadian. [more]

W Fort Lauderdale Hotel & Residences

Just three years after completion, the  $430 million condominium-hotel, W Fort Lauderdale Hotel & Residences, is on the market, according to the Sun Sentinel. CBRE is selling the 346 hotel rooms and 171 condo-hotels separately or as a package. The asking price is yet to be reported.  [more]

Bayshore Concepts has paid $1.03 million for a parcel at 555 Antioch Avenue in Fort Lauderdale beach area, according to Sperry Van Ness, which brokered the deal on behalf of Bayshore. The property, which has a total of 0.585 acres, sold for an average price of $40.21 per square foot. Sperry Van Ness’ Keith Kidwell handled the deal on behalf of the seller, while MMD Realty’s Dave Motwani represented buyer Grand Terramar, also a limited liability company. Grand Terramar’s plans for the site were not disclosed. Former Dolphins star Dan Marino is an equity partner in MMD Realty. — Alexander Britell

MMD Realty, the South Florida real estate brokerage in which Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino is an equity partner, has added Kenneth Pasternak as an equity member. Pasternak is the principal of KABR Investment Committee. His office currently owns and operates approximately $100 million worth of real estate assets. Jason Emery

MMD Realty, the new real estate brokerage that includes football legend Dan Marino as an equity partner, has added Jason Emery as its business development manager. Emery has previously worked at Lennar Homes, Galleria Collection of Fine Homes and D.R. Horton. According to the firm, Emery was responsible for closing more than $12 million annually. MMD debuted in December with a launch at the W Fort Lauderdale. — Alexander Britell
