The Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America, which just wrapped
up a five-day mortgage modification expo in West Palm Beach,
announced that it would be opening a permanent office in Miami. This
visit was the group’s third to South Florida, with previous events at
the Palm Beach County Convention Center in February and in Miami
Beach in April. CEO Bruce Marks said a permanent office in Miami
could be open within the next two months. The main focus of the office
will be offering low-interest loans to prospective home buyers — the
original reason the group was created in 1988, but it will also have
someone on hand to help with loan modifications. [Miami

Wells Fargo and Wachovia Bank have invited over 15,000 mortgage
customers to a three-day Miami Beach workshop aimed at helping to work
out loan modifications. Some of the invitees are in foreclosure, others
are more than two months delinquent on their loans, and some homeowners
have already begun working with the banks to modify their mortgages.
Around 1,200 borrowers pre-registered for the event at the Miami Beach
Convention Center. The workshop follows two large-scale South Florida
workshops sponsored by the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of
America in Miami Beach and West Palm Beach. [Miami Herald] -
Bruce Marks’ Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America will return to South Florida for its second loan modification expo, this time at the Miami Beach Convention Center. While the group is funded by the government, banks give it $500 for each successful modifications that last three months without default. In its expo last month in West Palm Beach, the Boston-based NACA counseled more than 24,000 homeowners. This is the group’s 14th such event nationwide. Mortgage modification counselors will be on hand for 24 hours a day during the event, which lasts through Monday. [Miami Herald] Comments
