  • New York landmark Serendipity 3, known for its frozen hot chocolates, has opened its doors on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, according to Four Courses. The eatery, which also has a guests-only location at the Boca Raton Resort & Club, follows several successful New York eateries that have headed to Lincoln Road, from Danny Meyer’s Shake Shack to Rosa Mexicano. Last year, it opened a Washington, D.C. location as well, in addition to Vegas and Boston outposts. [Four Courses via Eater]

  • Eater Miami has confirmed that Shake Shack will be heading to a Coral Gables location across US-1 from the University of Miami at 1450 South Dixie Highway. It is set to open in 2012. The restaurant currently houses barbecue restaurant Smoke’t. “Here the clientele would be undergrades,” said David Swinghamer, partner of Shake Shack founder Danny Meyer. “You’d want something that said something about ice cold beer.” [NYT via Eater]

  • 1111 Lincoln Road

    Brokers say the addition of the 1111 Lincoln Road project in South Beach has altered the retail real estate landscape in the northern portion of the neighborhood. The project, which includes tenants like Danny Meyer’s Shake Shack and Nespresso Café, has impacted the way landlords in the area think about their property, said Mike Comras, president of Comras, a retail brokerage firm based in Miami Beach. “I would say Lincoln Road is one of the hottest streets in the country right now,” Comras said.   • New York restaurant titan Danny Meyer and his Union Square Hospitality Group have won 21 James Beard awards for their work in restaurants such as the Union Square Cafe, Gramercy Tavern and Eleven Madison Park. A more recent venture, the “better burger” upstart Shake Shack, now has locations in New York City, Saratoga and a recently-opened Miami Beach outpost. The Real Deal talked to Meyer about the expansion of Shake Shack to Miami, the state of Miami’s dining and Shake Shack’s impact on the way New Yorkers eat.

  • SoBe garage gets $76M refi

    Developer Robert Wennett has closed on a $76 million refinancing of 1111
    Lincoln Road, the parking garage that was designed by world-famous
    architects Herzog & de Meuron. HSBC and PNC banks arranged the
    five-year loan, which paid off the original construction loan on the
    project. “This is a significant project in a great location, with a
    strong owner and strong tenants,” said Adam Lustig, the Bilzin Sumberg
    partner who represented Wennett. The building houses retail tenants like
    Shake Shack and Taschen Books, along with a 100,000-square-foot office
    building and a personal penthouse apartment for Wennett.

  • Shake Shack, the popular New York City burger, hot dog and frozen custard joint, is set to open today at 1111 Lincoln Road in Miami Beach. The chain, owned by famed restaurateur Danny Meyer and his Union Square Hospitality Group, has seen the debut of multiple new branches recently, but the Miami Beach outpost is Meyer’s first venture outside New York. The new location was designed by SITE Environmental Design’s Denise Lee and James Wines, who used recycled and sustainable materials to build out the spot. [SFBJ]

  • NYC’s Shake Shack coming to Miami

    Shake Shack, the popular New York City burger, hot dog and frozen custard joint, will open shop in Miami next year. The restaurant, which has seen multiple new branches pop up recently, will be owner Danny Meyer’s first outside of New York. Meyer has not confirmed reports that the restaurant will open seven Shake Shacks in the Middle East. The Miami location, for which an opening date has not yet been set, will be on Lincoln Road.
