More and more real estate agents are choosing to charge a flat fee for home sales instead of a percentage commission, the Sun Sentinel reported. According to attorney Gary Singer, there is a growing trend in this area, particularly for homes with prices less than $50,000. For those properties, “agents may not feel they’re being compensated enough to justify their time and energy in getting the property sold,” Singer said in a Q&A on real estate issues. That is frequently the case when agents have to divide their commission with another broker. [Sun Sentinel]

  • Condo owners have questions

Condominium expert Daniel Vasquez addresses Sun-Sentinel readers’
questions about their condos. State law requires a two-thirds vote for
a major delay in vital projects such as retrofitting a building with
fire sprinklers, Vasquez explains. Also, condo associations can levy
charges for areas of common use, such as clubhouses. These issues are
on condo owners’ minds as condo associations face increased financial
