Cushman & Wakefield is the largest commercial brokerage firm in New York City, according to a count by The Real Deal of licensed brokers and salespersons in the New York State Department of State’s database. The count includes all firms that primarily specialize in commercial brokerage services, including investment sales.
Cushman, with 434, has the most licensed professionals among the dozens of commercial firms vying to strike deals in the five boroughs. The company became the largest following the merger of Cushman & Wakefield and Massey Knakal Realty Services. (The firm’s agent count will swell more once it adds agents from DTZ and Cassidy Turley to its ranks, but brokers from those firms continue to hold their licenses under those company names.)
The next largest was CBRE, with 431 licensed brokers and salespersons in the city. (A spokesperson for the firm said that of those, only 271 are New York City specific. The other firms either confirmed the numbers were substantially accurate, or did not respond to a request for comment.)
