Bank of America is the second largest bank in the United States by assets ($2.1 trillion in 2013) and one of the largest companies in the country, period, by revenue ($88.94 billion in 2013). As such, it is one of New York Citysand the worldsbiggest financers of real estate development and acquisition. In 2010, it loaned Google $467 million to buy its East Coast headquarters at 111 Eighth Avenue. It has been the financial partner on major developments such as the office tower at 51 Astor Place and the condo-hotel spire One57 on West 57th Street. Bank of America also underwrites numerous private residential mortgages in the New York area. It was chartered in San Francisco in 1904 as Bank of Italy. Through a series of mergers and acquisitions, its name changed to Bank of America and its headquarters landed by the late 1990s in Charlotte. The bank maintains its New York outpost in the Bank of America Tower at 1 Bryant Park. Bank of Americas chairman is Charles Holliday and its president and CEO Brian Moynihan. -TA
