Corcoran Group
Corcoran Group is a residential real estate brokerage firm in New York, and a subsidiary of NRT Incorporated. Barbara Corcoran started the company in 1973 with a $1,000 loan from her then boyfriend. Soon after, the company began publishing the Corcoran Report, a regular write-up of New York real estate market trends. Corcoran expanded to three New York offices in the 1980s, on Upper East Side, Downtown, and the Upper West Side and in 1991, the firm sold 100 apartments in a single day. In 2001, Barbara Corcoran sold her namesake firm to NRT Incorporated, a larger rival, for $66 million. NRT is itself a subsidiary, of Realogy Corporation. In 2005, Corcoran acquired The Sunshine Group, which specializes in marketing new residential developments.
