Jamestown Properties is a national investment and management company that controls several high-profile assets in New York City. These assets include the Chelsea Market retail and office complex at 75 Ninth Avenue; the tower at One Times Square, where the big apple drops on New Year’s Eve; the office buildings 1250 Broadway, 325 Hudson Street and 530 Fifth Avenue; and the 25-story condo Be@Schermerhorn at 189 Schermerhorn. Jamestown is also a developer of Industry City, a planned 6.5 million-square-foot office, industrial and retail campus spread over 30 waterfront acres in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. It’s New York City’s largest privately held manufacturing property. Jamestown is headquartered in Atlanta and has its New York office in Chelsea Market. It is led by president and CEO Matt Bronfman, who joined the firm in 1998. -TA

Jamestown Properties and Rockwood Capital, which are providing equity for the purchase, will be the controlling equity holders in the property. The selling group originally acquired the building for $210 million in 2004. The building has 21,790 square feet of retail space on Fifth Avenue, currently occupied by LensCrafters, Chase bank and Fossil. The building also has several big-name office tenants, including JPMorgan Chase and MassMutual.
