The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is a bi-state entity controlled by appointees from the governor of each state. The agency oversees significant properties including airports, bridges, tunnels and traditional real estate such as the World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan.
The Port Authority is co-developer with the Durst Organization of 1 World Trade Center, and leases land to Silverstein Properties, which built 7 World Trade Center, 4 World Trade Center and is constructing 3 World Trade Center on other portions of the Port's land.
The Port Authority also operates the Bus Terminal near Times Square.
