Shaun Donovan, born in 1966, is the director of the Office of Management and Budget for the federal government of the United States and the former United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Donovan grew up on the Upper East Side and attended The Dalton School, a highly selective private prep school in the neighborhood. He received an engineering degree from Harvard in 1987, as well as MAs in architecture and public administration, also from Harvard. His first housing-related job was at the Community Preservation Corporation, a nonprofit lender and affordable housing developer in New York. He then joined the Clinton Administration in 1998 as a special assistant and rose to deputy assistant secretary for multifamily housing 16 months later. Donovan joined Prudential Mortgage Capital Company in 2002 as a managing director of FHA lending and affordable housing investments. -GB
