Skidmore Owings & Merrill's design of Boston Properties' 1 million square-foot office Eighth Avenue tower has been revealed. The tower, between 54th and 55th streets, will be known as 250 West 55th Street. The glass curtain-wall 39-story tower will stand atop a base with a 57 foot-high, wraparound glass retail facade. There will be 25,000 square feet of stores. Excavation and demolition at the site has begun. Law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher has already signed a lease for 220,000 square feet, while law firm Proskauer, Rose is expected to take between 500,000 and 600,000 square feet. [Post]
