Madoff's wife can't find new home, Post says

Ruth Madoff
Ruth Madoff -- wife of Ponzi schemer Bernard Madoff, who is expected to be sentenced today -- can't find a new apartment to move into, according to the Post. Madoff agreed to sell her $7.5 million duplex co-op on East 64th Street last week as part of a surrender of $80 million in cash and property, but won't allow brokers inside the duplex to make their own appraisal of its value, sources said. Madoff is reportedly looking to rent a new home, but finding that landlords won't take her as a tenant. The Post says she has tried using her maiden name, Alpern, instead of Madoff, but hasn't had luck with that either. [Post]

To truly punish Madoff, his family needs to be punished as well. She needs to get the hell out of NYC and so do his sons.

Landlords won't take her as a tenant because she's probably looking in really nice buildings that she has no business to be in at this point. I'm sure the Bronx has some vacancies in her price range...

She should move to sing-sing. That's where she belongs.

Regrettably she is a United States citizen. The alternative would be to deport her and the rest of her family to an isolated inhospitable place and let them rot.

The gall; seriously, if you were Ruth Madoff, would not finding an isolated farm on some remote plot of land be the first order of business?

Lets not lynch his family till the verdict is out. If she knew or the sons knew then the law will catch them. If she is, indeed, innocent then lets not punish the wrong person because she is associated with Madoff. I too, find it hard to believe, that his immediate family did not know about this fraud but lets give them the benefit of doubt till the investigation is over.
