Bloomberg's townhouse not so green

April 10, 2009 01:05PM
Mayor Michael Bloomberg

Mayor Michael Bloomberg hasn't made the kind of energy efficient modifications to his own home that he said yesterday are now coming to the Brooklyn Navy Yard's industrial park. Bloomberg, a proponent of green initiatives, said he has converted almost all of the lights in his East 79th Street home to compact fluorescent bulbs and walks around his house to shut off lights, but he has not installed any high-tech solutions. He did not comment on what green steps he had taken at his other homes in upstate New York, Bermuda, Florida, Colorado and London.

Bloomberg has given NYC away to his rich developer friends. Now our schools are overcrowded and there is little affordable housing. Let's get rid of Bloomberg and send him off to one of his other houses, maybe in London? Good bye Mike.

Now he's running under the Republican ticket. The RNC loves it because they can pimp him out as the poster boy to save us from the recession...well get this, the entire financial insustry is dead in NYC which is why for purposes here in the real deal we are now going to the lower middle class and poor for everything from tax increases, to more $$$ for the MTA. Bloomberg please move to your other "green" homes as long as it is out of NYC.

DUMP THIS POWERMONGERING HYPOCRITE! He was once a Democrat, then he became Republican, then he became Independent and now he is on the Republican ticket again. He is not interested in "greening" his own homes or really the city, unless it means he and his friends get "green." Vote for anyone but Bloomberg! He does not have to be mayor to get $1 for consulting and giving advice to the city, and he will not be circumventing the laws concerning limitations on the mayoral office either! Let him be a consultant but vote NO for Bloomberg as Mayor for a third term!

The Mayor is to be commended for PlaNYC. But especially in light of the proposed new legislation requiring energy saving for other people's buildings, he would be well advised to set a positive example in this regard. He is in a position to add cachet to sustainable practices. For instance, sophisticated audio/visual systems are de riguer for high end residential design, why not sophisicated (and energy-saving)controls for lighting and other systems?
