Willets Point

Mayor Michael Bloomberg got some much-needed community support for his $3 billion plan to remake Willets Point in Queens last night. The divided local community board backed the redevelopment of the 61-acre industrial area by a vote of 21 to 15. Board members had said they were worried about the city's willingness to use eminent domain to seize property. They also wanted more affordable housing and more of a say in how the plan is reviewed.  [Crain's]
